There are two current events I’d like to mention, both involving Nassau County.

1. Speed Cameras Everywhere!
Recently, Newsday published a great article found HERE about the recent implementation of a widespread speed ticket program, enacted to generate $25-30 million extra for the county. That’s approximately 500,000 tickets per year, all sent to furious mail openers on the other end. No one wants to be slapped with an $80 ticket for going 42mph when the school limit is 25mph and it’s 5:30pm (still considered school hours?). I guess people need to be forced into slowing down when technically the speed limit is the law, however the sudden enforcement is sure to off put a large percentage of the population.

The AccountingCoach.Com is at it again…this time, with a fun way to learn accounting! An interactive, game-based system to tighten up your accounting skills while having a good time. Talk about breaking stereotypes. With quizzes, exams, crossword puzzles, word searches, this website is perfectly fun for a high school student or a CPA.  I hope the CPA’s of the world get higher than a 75%, it’s a little easier than the CPA exam.
